Happy for you that eye #1 went well. Wishing you the best for eye #2.

I had cataract surgery for the first eye in my early fifties and second eye in my mid fifties. The doctor was a little surprised, but when I mentioned both parents both eyes in their early sixties, life long light sensitivity (been wearing dark polarized sun glasses for decades), and very light blue to gray eyes, and a (then) high stress career, he said it all made sense.

I have a severe astigmatism and probably will have to wear polarized sunglasses or blue light protective readers or both, Michael. I don’t know yet

Me too; had both eyes done 2-3 months ago and now wearing glasses for the astigmatism and reading. Watching TV

is MARVELOUS! Would be outside but mobility issues prohibit. Eyes 👀 were fixable; my other faulty body parts are not. But I am blessed to read and travel wherever the internet allows. Good luck going forward, fun isn’t it?

Congrats! Now, I made sure to have at least one pair of reading glasses in each room, or close by. It helps adjustment to new eyes. Experimenting with off-the-shelf readers of different magnifications helped me find the right prescription.

And sunglasses!

Love this! Never thought about doing one-eyed wink like this...genius! I remember the clarity and colors more vivid. Cateracts creep up slowly you don’t realize what you’ve lost. Good luck tomorrow! Hope you can wear sunglasses a lot this week! ☀️😎☀️😎👍

Diane K-24: This is the result I was hoping for, and the result that both my well-loved wife, Nancy, and I have experienced from our own bilateral cataract surgeries. In short, we see better than ever.

Diane, you have a poetic soul as shown in how you share the miraculous in a simple view of nature, and as one of a similar mind, I love the way you describe the sky, trees, squirrel.

Congratulations! You and your husband: Love each other and take care of each other!

😂 I love this - I think I will soon be doing the same. I was at my appointment a bit over a year ago & was told it is only the beginning of cataracts. A tiny bit. It should be a while. I NEED EXACTLY HOW LONG?!? How long is a while???

I had zero problems with my eyes until a few weeks ago and now when I write read or try to read a pill bottle - bottle of aspirin- because taking a low dose is now another THING that is new Whio made the rule that just when you are old enough to enjoy life your social life means have new friends who are DOCTORS?!?! The ones that are younger than my kids.?!?!

🤦‍♀️ oh geez I don’t need to 🤦‍♀️ I MIGHT Cause a concussion!

New Bloodwork?!? Ok my RA has decided to to spike to 48 when normal is 19????? and NO MORE SUGAR - or very little may get to be Diabetic.

I don’t drink or I would go get drunk!!

and they all wonder why I still smoke a cigarette here and there?!?!

You’re so right, Pamela! As the cliche says, the golden years are referring to your urine samples. But I say being old is still an adventure which could be so much better if you didn’t have to get simple medical procedures approved!😎
