Some years ago I had the pleasure of working for a centenarian. She’d observe, “Growing old is not for sissies.” She still had “magical vision” that could spot tiny imperfections from a great distance. Once the work required rental of a machine on tires with a very long telescoping boom, to support work on high windows and avoid roof damage. Nothing would do but for Mary Call to accompany the painter, in the “bucket” on the end of the boom. She would not take “no” for an answer. The reason for her insistence? She wanted to see the grounds from a new vantage point. Indomitable spirit comes to mind. May your creaky joints in no way stand in your path!
Once you are real, once you are loved…you can not be ugly or worn. One of my favorite kids’ books! I used to tease about growing shabby and loose joints…more like tight joints! Thanks for sharing this beautiful story…hope the young moms read this! 🩷😊

I loved this book but it traumatized my daughter! So much so she warned me to never buy it, read it, mention it to her little ones.
