“One-on-one with Heather Cox Richardson” (video)
“Once again, we are at a time of testing. How it comes out rests, as it always has, in our own hands.” — “Democracy Awakening” Heather Cox Richardson
This is my gift to new subscribers who may not know
except through her books, substack letters, Facebook and YouTube videos. This one woman has taught millions of pro-democracy Americans everything they need to know historically and politically to fight injustice with facts. I came on substack to read her before Notes were introduced, and stayed because Heather and Joyce Vance fed my soul, my intellect, and my democratic ideals. I know many of you feel likewise. The video has a transcript as well. It runs a wee over an hour —so save some quality listening time this weekend. Subscribe to HCR’s YouTube channel.
From the site:
Heather Cox Richardson is a Boston College history professor whose daily digital essays (“Letters from an American”) that place current political events into historical context have gained a massive national following.
In this keynote Idea Fest session, she talks with fellow historian David Maraniss about the precedents for what we are seeing now in America’s political landscape and where we might be headed.
Oooo! thanks, Diane! She was recently in Columbus doing a fundraiser for Senator Sherrod Brown and I had the opportunity to meet her earlier in the day at one of Brown's field offices. near my home. Just a small group of about 8 of us older women and the campaign volunteers. She was incredibly thoughtful and kind...and of course, fascinating—I have a picture with her, too! An awesome experience.
Thanks, Diane. I’ll save the viewing for tomorrow so I can focus.
