I Sound Like Who?
They say the best compliment is an unexpected one. A landscaper returned my call promptly (rare) for a free estimate to build a wall along the driveway. Then.
I was thrilled that he called back at all. You how busy contractors can be. You leave a message and often never hear from them until you’ve hired somebody else. This fellow was prompt, respectful, and we set up an appointment for a free estimate on a driveway wall Monday.
When we chatted about his last work with one of my neighbors, we laughed because I had seen his men hauling rocks and mulch on my daily walks. Then came a goodbye gift.
He asked if anyone had ever told me I sounded like Dolly Parton? Of course I laughed and said no. He then said I even laughed like Dolly. Haha. I told him I didn’t sing, but he made my day! He said he was very serious and hoped I wasn’t offended. I laughed and said he had made my day. I’m afraid now to burst his bubble Monday!
Meanwhile my husband was in the yard with me and wondered why I was laughing. I explained who it was and what he said. My husband responded you’ve been cheating on me by not singing! Where’s your guitar and big hair? We laughed.
Little things can make your day we need to provide nice comments to our own family and friends. You may be the only person who takes the time to say them. Teachers are experts at lifting students up. We should all try it.
I watched this interview thinking I do laugh like Dolly even though I know I can’t sing a lick! This short clip is about 9 to 5, a favorite film!
Lovely story!
Now I’m going to read your column 🥰with Dolly Parton‘s voice in my mind.
