Diane K24: Our Substack-Friend, Jay Kuo, is on a similar theme. Mr. Kuo points out that a worrying number of Democrats may refrain from voting because of the situation in Gaza.

(My own stance: October 7th was an act of singular horror and terror; Israelis MUST be kept safe; Israel MUST NOT CONTINUE TO COMMIT WAR CRIMES BY BOMBING HOSPITALS, FOOD TRUCKS, REFUGE CAMPS, CHURCHES, MOSQUES, AMBULANCES . . . We have lost thousands of children, women, elderly and other NONCOMBATANTS in Gaza. These are war crimes.)

-- I am convinced the criminal Benjamin Netanyahu WANTS Trump in the White House! The two share the character of a bottomfeeder.

WHAT ARE THESE DEMOCRATS THINKING?!

Jay Kuo, and knowing your and my shared core-values, YOU would say: Being idle on election day is NOT AN OPTION.

LOOK AT WHO THE OTHER GUY IS.

The OTHER GUY has recently painted a horrific picture of what his second term would look like.

If allowed a second term, it would resemble the dystopian novel by Philip Roth, "Plot Against America," which laid bare what America would have been if Charles Lindbergh had been elected President in 1940!

Diane: Thank you so very much for keeping the flame lit, and the wick on the candle burns blue.

Armand, yes, we do agree! The danger is that we have too many one issue voters who overlook the big picture and their own grandchildren’s awful future if Trump the madman is elected. We can’t let it happen, and we need to do our homework who ferret out election deniers on all levels. 💙🇺🇸

Well, I was just transported back in time when I read about today’s death of Duane Eddy. RIP. His fabulous hit “Rebel Rouser” was all the rage when we arrived in America in 1958. So I just played it and got out of my chair and danced too.

Sometime watch LOST HORIZON (1930s I think). The book was written by James Hilton -- who would later win an Oscar for the script for Mrs. Miniver. It's got clear -- but called out -- racism, and hokey Christianity, and some annoying side-eye gay stuff. But at its core, it is a transformational tale full of love, magic, and mysticism. I used to show it to my myth classes, and they loved it, despite its being more than twice as old as any of them were!

Liz Gauffreau: I LOVE the writing of Isak Dinesen, including "Out of Africa."

I learned of it from the referential novel, "Catcher in the Rye." JD Salinger, in "Catcher," introduced me to a large number of works.

I forget "Catcher in the Rye," but I remember quite well the books Salinger thereby introduced me to, including at the top Isak Dinesen, "Out of Africa."

I tried to read the book, but I just couldn't get into it. I loved Catcher in the Rye when I read it as a teenager. I'd probably have no patience for young Holden now. That's what happened with Hamlet. I loved it when I read it in 9th grade. When I read it in college, my reaction was pretty much, "Will you just get on with it and make a DECISION!?"
