Yes, too many of us had absent fathers. Women get stuff done.. my own father too was absent. It’s almost kind of rare now to have a dad step up. But i notice on substack there are great daddies here… and i’m grateful that my daughter has a devoted husband and is a great daddy, too.
Your father passed when you were eight. My was killed in car accident not long after i turned eight.
You had good fathers along the way. My mom remarried to a bum who hated working and loved drinking every day.
Yet, I had a son who was married yesterday in a wonderful ceremony to a wonderful woman. I was an active participant to see my son married, a son whom I love deeply,
Today I celebrate Father’s Day from a different perspective and may be the ONLY Father’s Day I have ever allowed myself to feel.
