Having said that, if I were single, I would go to Synagogue Services (Conservative denomination), because Christianity has totally disillusioned me in America, and, on reflection, in its cruelty in religious wars and divisions -- think of the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre.
One of the very leading systematic theologians and religious philosophers was Paul Tillich, whose writings I have devoured -- most notably Tillich's three volume "Systematic Theology". Tillich became so disillusioned already during the Great War (World War I), that he abstained from attending church services.
Especially in the Catholic Church with its revolting child-abuse crimes, and the one-quarter of Americans who are Fundamentalist-cultists, these all have soured me on religion.
BUT: I love to study (in German) Rudolf Bultmann, Paul Tillich, Karl Barth, and not least, Wolfhart Pannenberg.
I am also attracted to the Upanishads (Brihadaranyaka and Chandogya Upanishads) and the Bhagavad Gita.
Having said all of this, I just vent as a man who has loved Catholicism and is fundamentally and at root very, completely disillusioned.

As a former Methodist, I am soured on most organized religions. My congregation maintains its love for Trump! Buddhism is the religion I am most interested in at this Trumpy time of ignorance.

One priest, from Indonesia, has what I RARELY attribute to a man: A beautiful singing voice. And he is a deeply spiritual and very deeply a good and empathetic man. And the Bishops ARE complicit with the neo-fascist MEGA/MAGA, because of their blindness in following ONE issue, even IF mixed with fascism.

Just came from Restore, a favorite charity shop, and they had new Gideon Bibles and another different kind for sale. None of the blasphemer’s though. Imagine packaging a Christian bible with the country’s founding documents. No separation of church and state for them I guess. I pick A and B and C which could be that he continues to rail against the judge’s daughter by reading what he considers appropriate biblical passages. 🤣🤣🤣
