Diane, I left Facebook during the 2020 election, so much mis and disinformation. It was not an easy thing to do, delete a Facebook and Instagram account. I found that out then. I hope it’s easier now! Some deactivate, I wanted deletion, never looked back!

Likewise for me. I’m trying to report and block some iffy fake profiles on Substack. Deniers and maga trollers . I think they will increase by November. Unbelievable times! 💙

Okay, good to know. Thank you. I have looked individually and sometimes I am befuddled as to common interests.

Can we curate our followers on Substack? I would like to be able to approve my followers.

I only know that you can (and it’s time-consuming) go one at a time and look on their profile to decide. I look for pro-Democracy names on their list of reads. One time a guy had all maga people listed. I blocked him. It’s such a time consuming thing.

It’s possible to block from public view your “Reads” on your profile. I discovered that on a background check of an over frequent commenter to Thom Hartmann who treats Thom’s Substack as his primary sand box and private turf but shows no “Reads”.

I will sometimes do such a Substack background check before replying to a comment that might appear to be a plant for an argument. Most real trolls are easy to spot. I’ve never done Facebook, Twitter, etc. I have a very separate LinkedIn account, that I basically ignore since retiring, since that platform is supposed to be business oriented, but be warned, business oriented means Republican trending. So I learned background checking there. I actually discovered Substack through Robert Reich who first started posting on LinkedIn and from a friend that recommended Heather Cox Richardson.

You’re right about business —Republicans love that tool. I love Heather as you know!
