If you’re not afraid to ask a few friends to name one Supreme Court justice, do it. Don’t pull your hair if they can’t. We all assume most literate Americans can name several. Unlikely.
Great piece, Diane. The reality is many, many Americans have strong opinions derived from social media! American public schools, by design, teach little or nothing of critical thinking, let alone civics, history or composition! Other societal factors too, of course.
