Busy Working People Need To Learn What’s At Stake In 2024
If you’re not afraid to ask a few friends to name one Supreme Court justice, do it. Don’t pull your hair if they can’t. We all assume most literate Americans can name several. Unlikely.
How do I know? As the January 6 hearings ended, I assumed every American would know the basics of January 6th hearings even if they hadn’t watched. Well, most people can’t identify this blue flower either. Can you? If you love flowers, you can.
Our daughter pretended she knew about the hearings, but her vague responses one day told us she had no clue. Eventually she said she had read headlines about it on her phone for a few of the days. She still approaches news that way. We find it sad.
I’m embarrassed to say too many of the people in my church lack interest and ignore the news. It’s obvious in a 2 minute conversation. We have tried to keep our family updated politically, but it’s not evident now. They do vote Blue at least!
2024 needs a door-to-door approach for Democrats to explain why Joe Biden is better suited for re-election than red crackpots, liars, and seditionists.

Great piece, Diane. The reality is many, many Americans have strong opinions derived from social media! American public schools, by design, teach little or nothing of critical thinking, let alone civics, history or composition! Other societal factors too, of course.
